ABOUT STARSKATE

STARSkate is for our skaters that have successfully completed the CanSkate program and would like to pursue figure skating. In the STARSkate program, with guidance from coaches, skaters will learn jumps & spins in Freeskate, Ice Dance, Skating Skills, Artistic Skating and Synchro moves. STARSkaters progress through Skate Canada’s National STAR program and its standardized assessment system.

MSC offers 3 levels of skating in our STARSkate program: Junior, Intermediate and Senior each requiring their own set of STAR assessments to be achieved.

We complement our on-ice instruction with sport-specific off-ice fitness training and dance for all athletes to attend.

MSC requires a minimum commitment of skating two days weekly for this program.

JUNIOR

Junior STARSkate is offered on Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for those skaters who have completed CanSkate and are ready to pursue the various disciplines of skating. Skaters receive a one hour fully-coached session conducted by our Certified Skate Canada Professional Coaches. The start and end of each session day is designated for a full group 10 minute instruction focusing on skating skill development. Skaters will also receive 30 min of smaller group instruction focusing more on specifics in the disciplines of Dance, Freeskate, Skills, Artistic and Synchro.

One hour sport-specific fitness and dance classes (included) are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for all Juniors to attend, Skaters are required to attend one off-ice class per week and strongly encouraged to attend more.

Minimum qualification:

Completed CanSkate Stage 6

Note: For the Junior STARSkate program, the Club requires that there be an adult who is responsible for the skater, present in the arena during the skater’s session. It is mandatory for skaters in the Junior program to skate two days per week in order to continuously progress.

REGISTER

INTERMEDIATE

Intermediate STARSkate offered Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, continues advancement in the skating disciplines of Freeskate, Dance, Skills, Artistic and Synchro. Skaters will work in small groups with a coach focusing on the development of the various skills. Intermediate sessions are fully club-coached.

We complement our on-ice instruction with sport specific off-ice fitness training and dance classes of 60 minutes (included) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Athletes are required to attend one off-ice class weekly and strongly encouraged to attend more.

Minimum qualification: Passed STAR 2 Skills and any other STAR 2 Assessment.

SENIOR

Senior STARSkate offered Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays continues advancement in the skating disciplines of Freeskate, Dance, Artistic, Skills and Synchro. Skaters will work in small groups with a coach focusing on the development of the various skills, All Senior sessions are fully club-coached. We complement our on-ice instruction with specialized off-ice fitness training and dance classes of 60 minutes (included) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays. and Fridays. All athletes are required to attend one off-ice class weekly and strongly encouraged to attend more.

Minimum qualification:

Passed STAR 5 Skills and Star 4 Freeskate Elements and Star 4 Program OR STAR 5 Skills and STAR 5A and 5B Dance.

PAYMENT POLICY

Payments for registration and program fees are to be made by Visa or Mastercard only, in Uplifter. Upon registration, payment will default to use previous credit(s) accumulated up to one year by the skater permitting a choice to apply them or bypass to credit card payment.

The first installment must be paid at the time of registration. This will include the Skate Canada fee, volunteer fee (if buying out), PA volunteer fee (if buying out), and 25% of program fees.

Seven installment payments for the balance of the program fees will be charged monthly to the credit card on record beginning October 15, 2026 through to April 15, 2027.

It is the responsibility of the member to ensure that the credit card on record for installment payments is valid, otherwise a processing fee will be charged. ADDITIONAL FEES

$65.70 Skate Canada Fee - annual membership fee that is paid directly to Skate Canada and covers membership and insurance. Effective September 1, 2026- August 31, 2027.
$60.00 Non-Resident fee - annual fee that is paid directly to the City of Mississauga for non-resident members. Effective September 1, 2026 - August 31, 2027.
